Welcome to American Sign Language III!

In this course, we will continue to delve deeper into the beautiful language of American Sign Language (ASL). Building upon the foundation you have already laid in ASL I or in your own study, we will focus on more advanced vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. Don’t worry if you are new to these concepts – we will take it step by step and make sure you feel comfortable and confident as you progress through the course. Along with learning new signs and expressions, we will also explore the cultural aspects of the Deaf community to give you a well-rounded understanding of ASL. By the end of this course, you will not only have expanded your ASL skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Deaf community. Let’s embark on this journey together and continue to grow in our knowledge and connection through the beautiful language of ASL.

The class will be interactive, with practice opportunities to improve your ASL skills. This will help you to be more inclusive and accessible in your communication within the Deaf community.

Remember, learning ASL is not just about learning a new language, but also about becoming more aware of the culture, history and members of the Deaf community. Understanding Deaf culture and etiquette is a crucial aspect of learning ASL.

About your Instructor, Megan Hill:

Fun facts; I’m a twin, newly married, new to the stepmom world and the Danbury area! I’m a licensed educational American Sign Language Interpreter. I love doing just about anything with the people I love! I am actively trying to better myself in my personal life and my profession. Currently I am working towards the next level of certification in Interpreting, in hopes to be able to serve and work with adults in the future.
